Ty Stewart Cards a 70 to Win Iowa PGA East-West
MILAN, Ill. – Ty Stewart of Hyperion Field Club in Johnston won the Iowa PGA East-West Team Event Monday afternoon at the Pinnacle Country Club. Stewart turned in a 2-under-par 70 to capture the win.
The teams were formed based on an equal split of Section members by East/West geography of facility of employment. The East team defeated the West in the competition with a combined score of 42-under par.
Stewart led the field with five birdies, the most of any player along with 10 pars to register his first tournament victory of the 2019 season. The East-West Event first place finish marks the fourth time this year Stewart has finished in the top-5.
Chris Black of Hickory Grove Golf Course carded the second-most birdies with four including back-to-back birdies on holes No. 17 and No. 18 for a 1-under-par 70. Black’s second place finish Monday afternoon at Pinnacle Country Club was a season-best.
In addition to the team and the Open Division event, the Iowa PGA East-West battle featured individual competitions in the Senior and Super Senior Divisions.
