Riverside, Iowa — Kaylor Steger of Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin leads the 85th Iowa Open after round two, and holds a one-stroke lead entering the final round.

“Yesterday I hit it pretty well and made a ton of putts,” said Steger. “Today I started striking the ball a little better and gave myself better opportunities, while also still rolling putts in.”

Steger started the day T2 after recording a 5-under-par 67 in round one. He carded a 6-under-par 66 in the second round to take the outright lead. Steger tallied eight birdies, including two-in-a-row on Nos. 6-7, and three straight birdies to close out his round on Nos. 16-18.

Tyler Torano and former Iowa PGA Junior Tour Member, Tripp Kinney are tied for third in the Open Division at 9-under-par 135.

Kinney recorded a 5-under-par 67 in the first round and followed up with a bogey-free second round with four birdies (two on each nine). Kinney is also the Amateur Division leader after two rounds. He added five more birdies on the back nine, including three-in-a-row on Nos. 10-12, and two-in-a-row on Nos. 16-17. Cook is currently in fifth place with a tournament total, 8-under-par 136.

“I definitely played better today,” said Cook. “I had 11 birdies and three bogeys. I had a couple good stretches on the front and back nine to keep it going. The course is in great shape, it’s an awesome venue and awesome event. I’m excited to be here and excited for tomorrow.”

2018 Iowa PGA Professional Champion, Darin Fisher is T19 following his second round 67. Fisher carded a bogey-free back nine with two birdies and had two more birdies and an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole for a tournament total of 3-under-par 141.

“I played a lot better today,” said Fisher. “The greens were a little bit better in the morning and I made a few putts. I hit a hybrid about 240 yards to about three feet from the hole on four to make eagle. That jumpstarted my round. Overall it was a great round.”

Iowa PGA Member, John Bermel has a three-stroke lead entering the final round in the Senior Division. Following a first round 66 (-6), Bermel carded an even-par 72 in the second round with two birdies and two bogeys.
