Steffen Leads Round Two of the 89th Iowa Open-
Riverside, Iowa – Zach Steffen of West Des Moines, Iowa leads round two of the 89th Iowa Open presented by Riverside Casino and Golf Resort on Saturday, July 30 at Blue Top Ridge at Riverside. Steffen turned in a 7-under-par round of 65 to lead round two.
Steffen carded birdies on holes 3, 4, 6, 7, 15, 16, 17 and 18 including a bogey on hole 8 to complete 36-holes with rounds of 68-65=133, 11-under-par. Three other players are in a tie for second place with rounds of 10-under-par, Kurtis Luedtke of Charleston, South Carolina; Brendan O’Reilly of Jupiter, Florida and Matthew Meneghetti of Schererville, Indiana.
Jeff Schmid of Iowa City, Iowa leads the Pro Senior Division with 3-under-par 69. Schmid recorded birdies on holes 8, 9, 11, 13, 14 and 18 including bogeys on holes 1, 6 and 7 to complete 36-holes with rounds of 72-69=141. Two other players are in a tie for second place with Bryan Luedtke of Galesburg and Roy Biancalana of Galesburg, Illinois.
Pro Super Senior lead by John Bermel of Cedar Falls, Iowa with 1-under-par 71. Bermel carded birdies on holes 7 and 10 including a bogey on hole 6 to complete 36-holes with rounds of 74-71=145. In second place was Marshall Gavre of Fairfield, Iowa he turned in a round of 1-over-par 73.
Open Amateur Division is led by Will Simpson of Pella, Iowa with a round of 4-under-par 68. Simpson carded birdies on holes 4, 8, 9, 14, 15 and 17 including bogeys on holes 1 and 6 to complete 36-holes with rounds of 69-68=137, 7-under-par. Two other players are in a tie for second place Thomas Storbeck of Ventura, Iowa and Chad McCarty of North Liberty, Iowa.
Open Senior Amateur Division is led by Jay Gregory of Lineville, Iowa by turning in a 4-over-par 76. Gregory carded birdies on holes 4 and 12 including bogeys on holes 1, 5, 6, 10, 11 and 16 to complete 36-holes with rounds of 74-76=150. In second place was Jeff Collett of Ottumwa, Iowa he turned in a round of 8-over-par 80.
Open Super Senior Amateur Division is led by Pat Ryan of Marshalltown, Iowa with 4-over-par 76. Ryan carded birdies on holes 12 and 14 including bogeys on holes 1, 2, 6 and 13 to complete 36-holes with rounds of 74-76=150.
The final round of the 89th Iowa Open takes place tomorrow at Blue Top Ridge. Groups will start off Number 1 at 7:30 a.m. For pairings and tee times, click here.
