Second Round of John Deere Classic Suspended Due to Weather

Silvis, Illinois – The second round of the John Deere Classic was suspended due to the storms that are hitting the Silvis area. The second round will resume tomorrow at 8:00 a.m.  

Iowa PGA Member Sean McCarty completed the second round of the John Deere Classic today at TPC Deere Run. McCarty finished at even par (71) bringing his tournament total to 3-under-par (139) (T66).Chad Proehl was 5-over-par, 7-over-par for the tournament,  through 15 holes before his round was stopped due to the weather. 

McCarty got off to a quick start with an eagle on the par-5 10th hole, and a birdie on 11 moving him to 6-under-par for the tournament. After bogeying 14 and 16, McCarty birdied the par-5 17th hole for the second time this week. He finished his front nine at 1-under-par 35 after a bogey on 18. 

McCarty got back to 3-under-par (-6 for the tournament) with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 2-3. He would later drop two shots with back back-to-back bogeys on Nos. 5-6. After recording a double bogey on the eighth hole, McCarty made birdie on the ninth to get back to even par, and 3-under-par for the tournament. He currently sits right on the projected cut line. 

Proehl has carded two birdies in his second round. After finishing his front nine with a triple and double bogey, Proehl responded with a bogey-free back nine and one birdie (through 15 holes). He will resume his round tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. 

The John Deere Classic will make its 36-hole cut tomorrow following the conclusion of the rounds that did not finish this afternoon. The cutline is currently 3-under-par.
