Schmid Wins Iowa Senior PGA Professional Championship –
Muscatine, Iowa – Jeff Schmid of Brown Deer Golf Club wins the Iowa Senior PGA Professional Championship on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Geneva Golf & Country Club will lead four Section PGA Professionals to compete on October 21-24, in the 33rd Senior PGA Professional Championship. Schmid turned in a total score of 5-under-par, 70-67=137 to capture the win.
Schmid turned in a winning total of 5-under-par 137 to capture the Iowa Senior PGA Professional Championship. Schmid carded an eagle on hole 4; birdies on holes 2, 6, 7, 9 and 10 including bogeys on holes 11, 12 and 16. Chad Proehl of Sugar Creek Municipal Golf Course finished 6 strokes back at 1-over.
Schmid and Proehl are joined by Judd Gibb of Hanson’s Custom Golf, Chris Black of Hickory Grove Golf Course and John Shawver of Fore Seasons Golf Practice. Alternates for the National Championship are Bryan Luedtke of Bunker Links Golf Course, Jeff Smith of Harvest Point Golf Course, John Bermel of Pheasant Ridge Golf Course and Todd Fowler of Golf Galaxy – Davenport.
The Super Senior Division was won by Smith with rounds of 79-69=148 for a total of 6-over-par. Smith carded birdies on holes 4, 11 and 17 including a bogey on hole 5. Runner-up was Life Member Gale Gilbert with rounds of 74-79=153.
