Schmid, Gibb & Proehl to play in the 2020 Senior PGA Professional Championship

Riverside, Iowa – The Championship is over at the 31st Senior PGA Professional Championship at the Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas.

Judd Gibb of the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course fired a four-under par round of 68 on the Fazio Foothills Course that places him in a tie for 22nd place.  Gibb’s round included four birdies on the front nine, followed by nine straight pars and was one of the lower rounds shot in the final round.  Gibb secured his spot in the 2020 event with rounds of 68-75-70-68=281 for a five-under par total.

Chad Proehl of the Sugar Creek Municipal Golf Course played an even par round of 72 on his final round.  This round followed a spectacular third round six-under par 66 that included one eagle, five birdies and one bogey.  Proehl’s final round included two birdies and two bogeys on the back nine (started on #10) and one birdie and one bogey on the front side.  Proehl secured his spot in the 2020 event with rounds of 72-71-66-72=281 for a five-under par total.  This will be back-to-back year’s that Proehl has qualified for the Senior PGA Championship.

Jeff Schmid of the Brown Deer Golf Club shot a three-under par round of 69 that placed him in tie for 34th place.  His round included three birdies and fifteen pars.  Schmid then survived a play-off that had six players playing off for final two spots.  By winning in the play-off he secured his spot in the 2020 event with rounds of 67-73-74-69=283 for a three-under par total.  This will be back-to-back year’s that Schmid has qualified for the Senior PGA Championship.

The low 35 scorers earned a berth into the 2020 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship at Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor, Michigan, May 19-24.
