Proehl Wins Senior Player of the Year And Montgomery Wins Assistant Player of the Year

Proehl Wins 2021 Iowa PGA Senior Player of the Year
Riverside, Iowa – Chad Proehl of Sugar Creek Municipal Golf Course has won the 2021 Iowa PGA Senior Player of the Year with a total of 1,717.08 Player of the Year Points. This is Proehl’s third Iowa PGA Senior Player of the Year award previously won in 2019 and 2018.
 
Chad Proehl from the Sugar Creek Municipal Golf Course finished in the Top 35 and qualified for the 2022 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship in Harbor Shores, Michigan on May 24-29, 2022. The Iowa PGA had seven contestants in the 2021 Senior PGA Professional Championship held on October 21-24, 2021 at PGA Golf Club (Wanamaker & Ryder Courses) in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
 
Proehl competed in 17 Iowa PGA events this season. He had 15 top-fifteen finishes including wins at the Iowa PGA Professional Championship (Senior Division), NB / M&M Foundation Pro-Am and Harris Golf Cars Pro-Facility (Senior Division).
 
Proehl was quoted, “I am extremely honored to receive the Senior POY award as the Senior category is only getting tougher and tougher every year.  So many really good players in our section and I’m glad to be a small part of a great group of guys.   This year was tight all the way until the end as it normally is because of all the great players.  I’m always trying to represent the Iowa PGA section as well as I can.  Hopefully and God willing I will continue to play this great game for a few more years. I would like to thank the Iowa PGA Section staff, all of our wonderful tournament sponsors, Trent Cressy and Titleist, Stan Sheffield and Footjoy, and last and most importantly my wife and children for their continured support."

Iowa PGA Assistant Player of the Year
Ben Montgomery of Airport National Golf Complex has won the 2021 Iowa PGA Assistant Player of the Year with a total of 1,437.50 Player of the Year Points. This is Montgomery’s fifth Iowa PGA Assistant Player of the Year award previously won in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2020.

Montgomery competed in 18 Iowa PGA events this season. He had 18 top-six finished including wins at the NB/M&M Foundation Pro-Am, Harris Golf Cars Pro-Facility and Pro-Pro #3.

Ben was quoted, “This is a great honor to win this award. We have some really good assistants in our section and this POY race gets tighter every year.”
