Pella, Iowa – The National Car Rental Iowa Assistant PGA Championship takes place September 4-5 at the Bos Landen Golf Club in Pella, Iowa. The Iowa Assistant PGA Championship is a 36-hole stroke play format with the top two finishers qualifying for the 42nd National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship on November 15-18 at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Luice, Florida.

Defending champion and 2017 Iowa PGA Assistant Player of the Year honoree, Ben Montgomery of Twin Pines Golf Course looks to defend his title next week. Montgomery carded a 7-under-par 137 to outlast Tyler Christians by one-stroke in last year’s tournament.

Christians finished T59 in last year’s event finishing 11-over-par (298) and Montgomery missed the 36-hole cut. Christians will be making his third career appearance in the Iowa Assistant PGA Championship. He has finished second in his previous two appearances (2017 & 2016).

Brian Wernimont is one of two previous Iowa PGA Assistant Player of the Year award winners (2015) in this year’s field. Wednesday’s round will begin at 12:00 p.m. with a shotgun start. The field will be re-paired for the second round with the first tee time going off at 8:00 a.m. The leaders will be the last group to tee off.
