Montgomery Leads Team to the Foundation Pro-Am Title-
West Des Moines, IA – The Iowa PGA hosted the NB Golf Cars/M & M Golf Cars Iowa PGA Foundation Pro-Am presented by the Iowa Golf Association at Glen Oaks Country Club in Des Moines on Monday, August 23.
 
PGA Assistant Golf Professional Ben Montgomery led his Airport National Golf Complex team consisting of Steve Hageman, Cory Kamoss and Ron Kotaska to the Team Title with a Stableford score of 28 points. The second-place team was PGA Head Professional Curt Schnell of Okoboji View Golf Course as he led Mike Lamb, Jim Hauer and Ron Coe with a score of 18 points.

Championship Flight

  1. 28 points: Ben Montgomery (Airport National Golf Complex) – Steve Hageman, Cory Kamoss and Ron Kotaska

Second Flight

  1. -18 points: Tracy Vest (Blue Top Ridge) – Brad Leonard, Tom Small and Michael Mercure
  2. -19 points: Darin Fisher (The Preserve at Rathbun Lake) – Garth Gendell, Brandon Tomlin and Philip Jones
  3. -20 points: John Dinnebier (Briarwood Golf Club) – Jason Mars, Ben Madsen and John Flaugh

Amateurs will receive shop credit in the Glen Oaks Country Club Golf Shop.
 
Teams for Iowa PGA Foundation Pro-Am were comprised of one Professional and three amateurs competing in an 18-Hole Individual Low Pro and Team Event Quota System.
 
In addition to the team event, the Iowa PGA Iowa PGA Foundation featured individual competitions for the Open, Senior and Super Senior Divisions.
 
Sean McCarty of Brown Deer Golf Club claimed first place in the Open Division with a 7-under-par round of 64. McCarty carded an eagle on hole 1; birdies on holes 3, 6, 9, 10, 11, 15 including a bogey on hole 17. Montgomery and Proehl tied for second place both carded a round of 3-over-par 68.
 
Proehl took home first place in the Senior Division with a 3-over-par round of 68. Proehl recorded birdies on holes 6, 8, 9 and 11; bogey on hole 1 in route to his victory. John Bermel of Pheasant Ridge Golf Course carded a round of 2-under-par 69 to claim second-place.
 
Curt Schnell of Okoboji View Golf Course won the Super Senior Division with a 1-over-par round of 72. Schnell carded birdies on holes 5, 9, 10 and 11 including bogeys on holes 2, 3, 12, 17 and 18 in his win. Joe Butler of Burlington Golf Club, Jim Henry of EK Golf and Jeff Smith of Oskaloosa Golf Course all tied carded a round of 7-over-par 78 to claim second-place.

The Burkart Scholarship is an annual college scholarship awarded in memory of Charlie Burkart, a PGA member of 49 years and PGA Head Professional at Elmcrest Country Club in Cedar Rapids of 42 year.
