McCarty and Haverland Win Junior-Senior Draw
Coal Valley, IL – Sean McCarty of Brown Deer Golf Club and Butch Haverland of Palmer Hills Golf Club won the Junior-Senior Draw Monday, August 31 at Oakwood Country Club. McCarty and Haverland turned in 8-under-par round of 63 to capture the Team win.
Teams for Junior-Senior Draw were comprised of two Iowa Section PGA Professionals competing in one best ball of 2 gross.
In addition to the team event, the Iowa PGA Junior-Senior Draw featured individual competitions for the Open, Senior and Super Senior Divisions.
McCarty claimed first place in the Open Division with a 7-under-par 64. McCarty carded an eagle on hole 15 with a bogey on hole 8 including birdies on holes 1, 2, 6, 10, 16 and 18. Runner-up Ryan McClintock carded a 4-under-par round of 67 to come in second place.
Judd Gibb of Lakeside Municipal Golf Course, Bryan Luedtke of Bunker Links Golf Course and Jeff Schmid of Brown Deer Golf Club tied for first place in the Senior Division with 3-under-par rounds of 68.
Mark Ruthey of Palmer Hills Golf Club won the Super Senior Division with a 1-over-par 72. Ruthey carded bogeys on holes 2, 4, 7, 11, 14 and 16 with birdies on holes 6, 9, 10, 13 and 18 in his win. Runner-up Larry Castagnoli, PGA Life Member carded a 7-over-par round of 78 to take home second place.
