CEDAR FALLS – Sean McCarty of Brown Deer Golf Club won the Junior Academy Stroke Play Event at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course on June 18. This marks McCarty’s second consecutive win in this event after recording seven birdies in back-to-back years.
McCarty recorded a bogey-free front nine along with seven birdies on the day for a 6-under-par 66. McCarty notched Jacob Bermel by a single stroke in route to his victory. Bermel finished with five birdies and zero bogeys on Tuesday afternoon for his second place finish. John Bermel rounded out the top-3 with a 3-under-par 69.
The next Iowa PGA Event will take place tomorrow as the 39th Iowa PGA Junior Academy continues. The Junior Academy Senior Stroke Play Event is tomorrow at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course. The event will start with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m.
