McCarty Misses 54-Hole Cut at John Deere Classic

Silvis, Illinois – Iowa PGA Member Sean McCarty missed the 54-hole cut at the John Deere Classic yesterday. McCarty made the 36-hole cut for the first time in his career on Thursday, and carded a one-over-par 72 in the third round for a tournament total 2-under-par 211. 

McCarty finished with 14 birdies (T65) 27 pars (T80) and one eagle (T9). He also ranked ninth in driving distance (314). He also carded his lowest career round at a John Deere Classic on Thursday (68) and finished his first two rounds at 3-under-par (139), his best two round score at a John Deere Classic. McCarty also tied his personal-best birdies in a tournament (6) and eagles in a tournament (1).

The John Deere Classic marks one of two PGA Tour events in which McCarty will participate in in as many months. McCarty qualified for the 100th PGA Championship in June when he finished T2 at the PGA Professional Championship at the Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Course in Seaside, California. In addition to these events, McCarty has won four Iowa PGA tournaments this season.
