– Iowa PGA Member Sean McCarty has made the 36-hole cut at the John Deere Classic for the first time in his career (three appearances). He will begin his third today off the 10th tee at 11:00 a.m.
McCarty got off to a quick start in the second round with an eagle on the par-5 10th hole, and a birdie on 11 moving him to 6-under-par for the tournament. After bogeying 14 and 16, McCarty birdied the par-5 17th hole for the second time this week. He finished his front nine at 1-under-par 35 after a bogey on 18.
McCarty got back to 3-under-par (-6 for the tournament) with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 2-3. He would later drop two shots with back back-to-back bogeys on Nos. 5-6. After recording a double bogey on the eighth hole, McCarty made birdie on the ninth to get back to even par, and 3-under-par for the tournament to make the 36-hole cut.
