Iowa PGA Wins 53rd Iowa Cup Matches
Ankeny, IA – The Iowa PGA Professional’s defeated the Iowa Golf Association 23 points to 17 points in the 2020 53rd Iowa Cup Matches at the Briarwood Golf Club. This marks the fifth straight year the Iowa PGA Professionals have retained the Cup.

John Bermel’s 2&1 victory over Jon Olson secured the 20th point and a tie score. Tracy Vest’s 3&2 over David Combs clinched the Cup and the out-right-win of 21 points.
The Iowa PGA won 11 Singles Matches on the final day of the 53rd Iowa Cup Matches. Three of the Iowa PGA Professional’s team members won all three of their matches over the last two days – Chad Proehl, John Dinnebier and Jay Giannetto.
Today’s Singles Matches included; Chad Proehl defeated Dusty Drenth, 1up. John Dinnebier defeated Tony Newkirk, 7&5. Ben Montgomery defeated Kevin Ault, 1up, Jim Henry defeated Terry Cook, 3&1, Sean McCarty defeated Gene Elliott, 1up, Darin Fisher defeated Jon Brown, 1up, Dave Ranney defeated Tom Schill, 3&1, John Bermel defeated Jon Olson, 2&1, Tracy Vest defeated David Combs, 3&2, Mark Atchison defeated Trent Lindenman, 1up and Jay Giannetto defeated Connor Peck, 1up.
Judd Gibb, Aaron Krueger, Greg Dingel, Matt Erger, Jeff Smith, Chad Callan, Jacob Bermel, Ty Stewart and Chris Black all battled in their Singles Matches but eventually lost.
The final score of the 2020 53rd Iowa Cup Matches ended with the Iowa PGA (Professionals) winning 23 points, while the Iowa Golf Association (Amateurs) won 17 points. Click here to view full results.
