TOURNAMENT CENTRAL
Muscatine, Iowa – The Iowa PGA hosted the Harris Golf Cars Iowa Pro-Facility at the Geneva Golf & Country Club in Muscatine, IA on Monday, August 26th.
Host PGA Professional Steve Hutton and his teammate Nick Axtell scored 18 quota points to win by five over Brown Deer GC PGA Professional Sean McCarty and his teammate Derek Birt with 13 quota points. Teams comprised of one PGA Professional and one amateur. The event was formatted in an 18-hole Team Event Quota System. There was also an individual low-Pro event in the Open, Senior and Super Senior Divisions.
McCarty played a clean round of golf in shooting a five-under Par 66 that included five birdies on holes 2, 4, 14, 16 and 17 and no bogeys to win the Open Division. Judd Gibb fired a round of four-under Par 67 that included four birdies and no bogey to finish in 2nd place.
Gibbs four-under Par 67 was good enough to take the Senior Division crown. Sugar Creek Golf Course’s Chad Proehl finished in 2nd place and 3rd place in the Open Division with a three-under Par 68 that included four birdies and one bogey. Pheasant Ridge Golf Course’s John Bermel finished in 3rd place with a two-under Par 69 that included an eagle, a bogey and one birdie as he also finished in 4th place in the Open Division.
Jim Henry of EK Golf scored a victory in the Super Senior Division with a round of two-over Par 73 that included two birdies. Joe Butler of the Burlington Golf Club finished in 2nd place with a round of four-over Par 75.
The event also included six Hole Events.

- Closest to the Pin #5 – Butch Trumbull, Geneva Golf & CC
- Closest to the Pin #7 – Bill Fratzke, Hickory Grove GC
- Closest to the Pin #11 – Cory Kamoss, Twin Pines GC
- Closest to the Pin #13 – Bo McBee, EK Golf
- Closest to the Pin in 2 shots or less #18 – Jon Phillips, Burlington GC
All told, six players fired under par rounds of golf in today’s format. McCarty, Gibb, Proehl and Bermel were joined by Brian Lorenz of the Spirit Hollow Golf Course and John Panek of the Davenport Country Club as they both fired one-under Par rounds of 70. Click here for the complete results.
