Gibb in Contention for PGA Championship Following Round 3 of the PGA Professional Championship

Bluffton, South Carolina – Iowa PGA member, Judd Gibb currently sits T20 after the third round of the 2019 PGA Professional Championship.  Gibb, Chad Proehl and Jeff Schmid all survived the final cut of 70 and ties to advance to the final round on Wednesday in this week’s PGA Professional Championship.

Gibb completed his third round with three-over-par 75 on the West Course.  Gibb played a tough front-nine with three bogeys and a birdie on the par-4 6th hole.  Gibb played a solid back nine with a birdie on the par-4 11th hole.  He then bogeyed the par-3 16th hole and par-4 18th hole to shoot 75 and finish at 70-72-75=217 (+2).  He is in a tie for 20th place.  If the tournament ended today Gibb would be in a play-off for a chance to play in the 2019 PGA Championship.  Gibb’s tee time for tomorrow is at 10:40 pm EST.

Proehl finished his third round with a one-over par 73 on the West Course. Proehl jumped out fast with a birdie on the par-4 1st hole.  He carded two bogeys, another birdie and a double bogey on the par-4 9th hole to finish at 38.  He started the back-nine with a bogey on the par-4 tenth hole before he righted the ship and made back-to-back birdies on holes 12 and 13 to shoot one-under-par 35 on the back for a total of 73. His three-round total is 70-76-73=219 (+4) to sit T39.  He will continue his PGA Professional Championship final round on the West Course is at 9:30 a.m. EST today.

Schmid finished his third round with a round of 73 on the West Course. Schmid carded a birdie on the par-5 2nd hole and had two bogeys on the front to turn in one-over par 37. Schmid got back to even-par for the day with a birdie on the par-5 13th hole.  He followed that up with bogeys on holes 14th and 15th before he pumped in a birdie on the par-4 17th hole to close out the back-nine in even-par 36.  His three-round total of 75-72-73=220 (+5) has him sitting in a T48.  He will continue his PGA Professional Championship final round on the West Course at 9:10 a.m. EST tomorrow.

The Top 20 players advance to the PGA Championship at the historic Bethpage Black Course on May 16-19, 2019.

The PGA Professional Championship will continue play today and tomorrow West courses at Belfair Golf Club.
