Fisher Wins Iowa PGA Match Play

Riverside, Iowa —Darin Fisher of the Preserve on Rathbun Lake won the 2018 Iowa PGA season long Match Play on Thursday. Fisher defeated Chris Black 3&2 in the championship match at Blue Top Ridge. This marks Fisher’s third Match Play victory in his career, winning in 2012 and 2014 . Seeds for the season long Match Play were based off 2017 Player of the Year standings and competitors were broken into two regions with the winner from each region facing off in the Championship Match.

Fisher received a bye in the first round due to his Player of the Year points from 2017. He took on Adam Pritchard in the second round. He defeated Pritchard 6&5. Fisher then went on to defeat Jeff Smith 2&1 in the third round and Judd Gibb 4&3 in the fourth round. Fisher squared off against Chad Proehl in the West Region Championship. 18 holes wasn’t enough for this Match, as Fisher Proehl remained tied through 20 holes, but in the end, it was Fisher prevailing on the 21st hole to advance to the Match Play Championship.
