Fisher Wins Iowa PGA Professional Championship

West Des Moines, Iowa – Darin Fisher of The Preserve on Rathbun Lake won the Iowa PGA Professional Championship today at Glen Oaks Country Club. Fisher outlasted Sean McCarty by one stroke, finishing at 6-under-par 207, to claim his second Iowa PGA Professional Championship of his career (2016). Click here for full results. 

“Today was a super hard-fought round,” said Fisher. Chad (Proehl) and Sean (McCarty) never let up for a minute. I hit the ball perfectly today. I didn’t putt the greatest, but thankfully I hit the ball well.” 

Fisher entered the final round with a three-stroke lead. The two-time champion carded five birdies including two in-a-row on Nos. 15 and 16 to secure the victory with an even-par 71 in the final round. With the win, Fisher earns exemptions into the 52nd PGA Professional National Championship presented by Club Car and Omega, and the 2019 John Deere Classic. 

“I’m super happy that I could come out on top today,” said Fisher. “It feels just as good the second time around.” 
In addition to Fisher, McCarty, Proehl, Judd Gibb, John Bermel and Jeff Schmid will all represent the Iowa PGA at the 52nd PGA

Professional National Championship. McCarty, who already qualified due to his T2 finish at this year’s Professional National Championship, carded a 2-under-par 69 in the final round for a tournament total 5-under-par 69, falling just one shot short of Fisher. 
Proehl wrapped up his Iowa PGA Professional Championship with an even-par 71 for a tournament total 3-under-par 210 to place third. Gibb carded a 1-under-par 70 in his final round to finish with a 2-under-par 211 and take fourth place. Bermel and Schmid claimed the final two qualifier spots (T5) for next year with tournament totals of even-par 213.
