Started in 1927, the Iowa Open has been a Midwest golf championship with a long list of winners and participants that have shaped the game both in Iowa and around the country. Most famously, Zach Johnson is a 2-time winner of the event. Players like Mike McCoy, Mike Bender and Sean McCarty are all past winners as well. Administered by the Iowa PGA Section, the championship continues this long history of quality golf in the state of Iowa.
Blue Top Ridge was designed by renowned architect of championship golf courses, Rees Jones. Blue Top Ridge combines everything that is expected of a championship golf course in the Midwest. Playing over 7,500 yards, Blue Top Ridge is rated by the USGA as the most difficult golf course in the state of Iowa. The scenic course lends itself to spectators with ample space for them to move around the golf course freely while combining great golf with great views.
