The John Deere Classic will be contested at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois on July 7-10, 2011.  Three Iowa natives will be competing in this year’s PGA Tour event;  Chad Proehl, Urbandale, Iowa, Brady Schnell, Milford, Iowa, and Zach Johnson, Saint Simons Island, Georgia.

Chad Proehl of Urbandale, Iowa, qualified for this event when he won the Iowa PGA Section Championship in 2011 at Crow Valley Golf Club in Davenport, Iowa.  Proehl is an Iowa PGA Member who is a teaching professional at Sugar Creek Golf Course in Waukee, Iowa.  Proehl also won the 2010 Iowa PGA Player of the Year honors.

Brady Schnell was granted a sponsor’s exemption into the field when other PGA Tour members withdrew from the event.  Before the exemption was granted, Schnell fired a three-under-par, 68, at the Pre-Qualifier on Thursday, June 30th, at Pinnacle Country Club in Milan, Illinois.

Zach Johnson of Saint Simons Island, Georgia, is a PGA Tour star who won the 2007 Masters Tournament along with six other PGA Tour events.  Johnson has started a new foundation called the Zach Johnson Foundation, which focuses on improving the lives of children in Iowa.   More information may be found by going to the following Web site - http://zachjohnsonfoundation.com/ .
