First American Bank History and General Information

First American Bank was chartered in Fort Dodge, Iowa, in 1934, and served the needs of that community for some 65 years before embarking on an expansion program and appointing a management team that continues in place today. In 1999, First American Bank opened a Sioux City office, followed by the opening of a Des Moines area bank, in Clive, the next year. In 2004, Ankeny and Iowa City temporary locations were opened. The Ankeny bank opened its permanent state of the art banking facility in May, 2006, and Iowa City began offering the community expanded services and hours from its new location in February, 2008.

Since that time, by acquisition, internal growth and new office development, First American has expanded operations to include 16 Iowa banking offices.

In 2005, the bank opened a loan production office in Naples, Florida, and in April 2006 purchased Pelican National Bank of Naples, Florida. Today, First American Bank operates from five southwest Florida communities in Lee and Collier counties: Naples, Bonita Springs, Ft. Myers, Ft. Myers Beach, and Cape Coral. In 2007 the Naples headquarters moved to a more accessible and convenient location; early the next year, the Fort Myers bank also moved into an upgraded facility. Construction is underway for an additional Naples branch at the intersection of Pineridge and Livingston, to open in late 2008.
