Sherlock Elected President of the Iowa PGA Section
Riverside, Iowa – The Iowa PGA elected Matt Sherlock, Head PGA Professional at the Edmundson and Harvest Point Golf Courses in Oskaloosa, Iowa yesterday at their Annual Meeting held at Riverside Casino and Golf Resort.
Sherlock turned professional on August 12, 2003 and earned his Class A status in the PGA of America on May 18, 2010. Sherlock also previously held a seat as a Board Member until he was elected Secretary in 2015. Sherlock was previously the Vice-President of the Section.
“I feel very privileged and humbled to be the new President of the Iowa PGA.” stated Sherlock, “I take this responsibility very seriously and will continue to help lead the Iowa PGA Section to future successes. I am very grateful for all of the mentors and past leaders who have helped me along the way. I know we can ‘think and dream big’ for the future. We have an amazing staff and a very dedicated board of directors. We will continue the mission of growing the game and supporting the member.”
Erin Strieck, PGA Head Professional at Pinnacle Country Club was elected as the Vice President of the Section becoming the first female to accept that post in the Sections 84-year history.
In a 3-ballot run-off election, Steve Watt, PGA Director of Golf at Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines, Iowa received enough votes to become the Secretary of the Iowa PGA. He defeated candidates Gene Bears, Jr., PGA Head Professional at the Ankeny Golf & Country Club and David Crawley, PGA Head Professional at the Muscatine Municipal Golf Course in this election for Secretary.
In the four open Board of Director seats, the following Iowa PGA Members were elected to their posts by the Iowa PGA Membership. Mike Armes, PGA Assistant Professional at Glynns Creek Golf Course in Long Grove, Iowa, Sarah Bidney, PGA Director of Instruction at the Wakonda Club in Des Moines, Iowa, David Crawley, PGA Head Professional at the Muscatine Municipal Golf Course and JR Millar, PGA Head Professional at Lake Bracken Country Club in Galesburg, Illinois.
