Schmid Misses the Cut at PGA Championship

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Friday afternoon Iowa PGA member, Jeff Schmid missed the cut at the 101st PGA Championship at Bethpage Black. It was Schmid’s first Major.

Schmid was 11-over par after Thursday’s first round. The Iowa City native doubled bogeyed the first hole and then rattled off four straight pars shooting 4-over on the front. Schmid opened the back nine with two straight pars before finishing 19-over par for the tournament.

Schmid will compete in the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship with another Iowa PGA member, Chad Prohel of Sugar Creek Golf Course at the Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y., next week starting Thursday, May 23. Pairings and tee times will be released early next week.
