Proehl Sits in 8th at Senior Stroke Play Championship

Port St. Luice, Florida – Iowa PGA Member Chad Proehl is currently in eighth place after two rounds at the Senior Stroke Play Championship at the PGA Golf Club. His final round tees off Tuesday at 12:18 (ET) on the Wanamaker Course.

Proehl started his tournament on the Wanamaker Course on Sunday morning. The 2018 Iowa PGA Senior Player of the Year got off to a quick start, birdieing three of his first five holes. After dropping a stroke at the par-3 sixth hole, Proehl birdied the par-5 seventh hole and finished his front nine at 3-under-par (33).

The back nine of Proehl’s first round remained steady, as Proehl picked up another birdie and eagled the par-5 16th hole. Proehl closed out the round with a bogey on the par-3 17th hole and finished the first round with a 5-under-par 67.

Starting the second round in a tie for second place and one shot off the lead, Proehl battled the Ryder Course on Monday. He carded three bogeys on the front the nine to go along with his three birdies to shoot an even-par 36.

Proehl started his back nine with a birdie on No. 10 to get to 1-under-par for the day, but recorded a double-bogey on the par-3 12th hole. Proehl closed out his round with his second eagle of the tournament on the par-5 17th hole to finish with a 1-under-par 71, and two-day total 6-under-par 138.

Proehl stands alone in eighth place and is eight strokes off the lead heading into the final round. He will close his tournament out Tuesday afternoon on the Wanamaker Course. The Iowa PGA will provide updates throughout the round.
