McCarty Wins 2021 Iowa PGA Player of the Year & Low Scoring Average
Riverside, Iowa – Sean McCarty of Brown Deer Golf Club has won the 2021 Iowa PGA Player of the Year with a total of 1,975 Player of the Year Points. This marks the fourth straight year McCarty has won the Iowa PGA Player of the Year, and the tenth time in the last 13 years he has accomplished this feat.
McCarty won his second Iowa PGA Professional Championship (2012) at Davenport Country Club. This qualifies him for the 2022 John Deere Classic.
McCarty was the Iowa PGA Section Match Play Champion defeating Zach Steffen in the final match. Match Play is one of the major point events on the Tournament Calendar.
McCarty competed in 20 Iowa PGA events this season. He had 19 top-ten finishes including wins at the Match Play Championship, Iowa PGA Professional Championship, NB / M&M Golf Cars Foundation Pro-Am and Pro-Pro #3.
McCarty was the Player of the Year in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.
Sean McCarty of Brown Deer Golf Club also won the 2021 Low Scoring Average of 69.38.
Sean was quoted, “This is such an honor to win. With the Caliber of players that we have in the Iowa section this is a tough challenge to pull off. At any time there are a number of players that can win a section event or the player of the year.”

Smith Wins 2021 Iowa PGA Super Senior Player of the Year
Jeff Smith of Harvest Point Golf Course has won the 2021 Iowa PGA Super Senior Player of the Year with a total of 1,216.66 Player of the Year Points.
Smith competed in 15 Iowa PGA events this season. He had 15 top-four finishes including Super Senior Division wins at the 36 Hole Classic, Pro-Junior, Iowa Senior PGA Professional Championship (Super Senior Division) and Iowa PGA Professional Championship (Super Senior Division).
Smith was the Super Senior Player of the Year in 2019 and 2020 also was the Senior Player of the Year in 2015.
Jeff was quoted, “Very pleased to achieve my goal of Super Senior POY. Thank you to my fellow competitors for your competitive spirit and friendship”.

Iowa PGA Senior Player of the Year
The 2021 Iowa PGA Senior Player of the Year is yet to be determined. The Senior Player of the Year will be announced following the completion of the 33rd Senior PGA Professional Championship, which takes place at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida on October 21-24, 2021.
Iowa PGA Assistant Player of the Year
The 2021 Iowa PGA Assistant Player of the Year is yet to be determined. The Assistant Player of the Year will be announced following the completion of the 45th National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship, which takes place at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida on November 18-21, 2021.
