McCarty, Proehl, Schmid and Fisher Advance to Final Round of the 51st PGA Professional Championship

Seaside, California — After making the 36-hole cut at the 51st PGA Professional Championship, Iowa PGA Members Sean McCarty, Chad Proehl, Jeff Schmid and Darin Fisher all finished inside the top-70 to make the 54-hole cut and advance to the fourth and final round at the Bayonet Golf Course. Click here to view final round tee times. 

McCarty currently sits T13, which is right on the line for advancing to the 2018 PGA Championship. The top 20 finishers in this event will clinch berths in the 2018 PGA Championship taking place August 9-12 at Bellerive County Club. McCarty tallied 4 birdies and 10 pars in the third round for a 1-over-par 73, bringing his tournament total to 217 (+1). 

Proehl and Schmid are T47 entering the final round. Proehl carded one birdie and 13 pars on Tuesday for a 3-over-par 75 round. Schmid added one birdie and 14 pars to his tournament total to finish round three with a 2-over-par 74. Proehl and Schmid both have tournament totals of 5-over-par 221.

Fisher finished round three T67, securing one of the last spots in the 54-hole cut. The Albia native carded two birdies and 11 pars for a 2-over-par 75 on day three. Fisher’s tournament total is now 223 (+7).  

Fisher will be the first Iowa PGA Member to tee off in the final round today. His start time is 8:35 a.m. Proehl and Schmid will start about an hour after Fisher, with Proehl teeing off at 9:45 a.m. and Schmid teeing off at 9:55 a.m. McCarty’s final round will begin at 11:45 a.m. today.
