McCarty Cards 4-Over-Par First Round

Round 1 Results

St. Louis – Iowa PGA Member Sean McCarty made his PGA Championship debut today at the 100th PGA Championship. McCarty finished the first round T120 with a 4-over-par 74. 

McCarty started his round on the back nine, bogeying his first two holes (10 and 11). He bounced back with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 13 and 14 to get back to even par, but would bogey the par-4 15th hole to drop back to 1-over-par. McCarty finished his front nine with three straight pars, making the turn at 1-over-par 36.

McCarty added to his par total with back-to-back pars on Nos. 1-2, giving him five pars in-a-row. The Solon, Iowa native recorded a double-bogey on the par-3 third hole and bogeyed the fifth hole. McCarty birdied the par-4 seventh hole before bogeying his final hole of the round to finish at 4-over-par (74) for the day. 

There are 20 PGA Professionals playing in the 100th PGA Championship this week. McCarty is currently T5 on the PGA Professional only leaderboard.
