Audio Interviews of PGA Junior Series Standouts

 

The PGA Junior Series held its event at Elmcrest Country Club in Cedar Rapids, IA on July 28th and 29th.  This national junior golf tour attracts some of the best junior golfers in the nation.  Iowa natives and Iowa PGA Junior Tour members finished in 1st place in 3 of the 4 age divisions.  Beth Wagner of Ankeny, IA finished in a tie for 1st place in the Girls 13-15 division and later was defeated in a sudden death playoff.  Tanner Kesterson of Fort Dodge, IA fired a 3 under par total score of 137 to finish in 1st place in the Boys 13-15 division.  Connor Steele of Cedar Rapids, IA finished at even par 140 to capture 1st place in the Boys 16-18 division.  Below are audio interviews with Beth, Tanner and Connor talking about the PGA Junior Series, Iowa PGA Junior Tour and their golf games.

Iowa PGA Pro-Lady Results – July 28th, 2008

The 2008 Iowa PGA Pro-Lady was held at Sunnyside Country Club in Waterloo on Monday, July 28th.  Teams were comprised of one Iowa Section PGA Professional and three female amateurs.  The format was 18-Hole Individual Low Pro and Team Three Person Scramble, with the professional playing his own ball.  The team used either the professional’s score for the hole or the team’s score for the hole; whichever was lower.

The Iowa PGA would like to thank Tammy Valliere of Ecco and Lija for sponsoring this event.  Golfers were treated to a nice gift package courtesy of Tammy Valliere.  The winning team also received a free pair of shoes from Ecco.  A huge thanks also goes out to Steve Reilly, Head PGA Professional, and the entire staff at Sunnyside Country Club for hosting the event.

2008 Iowa Amateur Championship Results

The 106th Iowa Amateur Golf Championship will be held at Davenport Country Club on July 28th-30th.  The Iowa Section PGA would like to wish the best of luck to all competitors participating in Iowa’s biggest and most prestigious amateur event.  Tee times begin at 7:30 A.M. on Monday morning.

2008 Iowa PGA Parent Junior – July 27, 2008

The 2008 Iowa PGA Parent Junior was held Sunday, July 27 at Pheasant Ridge GC in Cedar Falls.  Fourty-seven two person teams competed in a scramble competition.   The boys 11 & Under and Girls 13 & Under age division played the 9-hole Walter’s Ridge GC with all other age divisions playing 18-holes on Pheasant Ridge GC.  The Iowa PGA would like to thank Kevin Dorrington of Wilson Golf for his sponsorship of this event.  Each participant was treated to a sleeve of Wilson Fifty golf balls.   The Iowa PGA would also like to thank John Bermel, head PGA Professional and the entire staff at Pheasant Ridge GC for hosting this event. 

Congratulations to Jacob and Brad Sevcik from Robins, Iowa –

they won the drawing for 2 week long tickets to the 2008 PGA Championship!
