Iowa PGA Pro-Junior Results – June 30th, 2008

The 2008 Iowa PGA Pro-Junior was held at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls on June 30^th.  Iowa PGA Professionals teamed up with junior golfers in this annual event which attracted 38 four-person teams.  The team format consisted of two best balls of four per hole.  The Iowa PGA would like to thank all junior golfers and professionals that competed in this year’s event.

Chet Flaum scored a hole-in-one on Hole #3 measuring 140 yards with a 9 Iron.  This was Chet’s first Hole-In-One and he has only been playing golf for 2 years.

The 2008 Boy Scouts Pro-Am was held at Davenport Country Club on Monday, June 23rd.  The Boy Scouts of America Illowa Council provides the amateurs and the Iowa PGA supplies the professionals for this annual pro-am.   The team format consisted of a Stableford scoring system where the amateurs played scramble while the professional played his own ball.  The score used for each hole was either the professional’s score or the amateur team score, whichever was lower.  A PGA Open and Senior Division was also conducted for the professionals.

28th Annual Junior Golf Academy

The 28th Annual Iowa PGA Junior Golf Academy was held Sunday, June 15 through Thursday, June 19 at Pheasant Ridge GC and the University of Northern Iowa.  The weather was perfect, sunny and warm the whole week for the 46 boy and girl campers.  Congratulations to all who attended on a great week and good luck the rest of the summer.   The Iowa PGA would like to thank John Bermel, head PGA Professional at Pheasant Ridge GC and lead instructor for the academy and his staff for doing a great job hosting.  Also thank you to all the Iowa PGA Professionals and Apprentices for their support in helping teach during the week.   Listed below are the results for the Iowa PGA Junior Golf Academy Tournament held Thursday, June 19th.

Iowa Junior Girls Championship – June 9 – 10, 2008

The 2008 Iowa Junior Girls Championship was held at Vinton Country Club in Vinton, IA on June 9 and 10th.  The girls were tested with a wet and soggy course that played a modified par 68.  Kristin Paulson of Ottumwa, IA was victorious in this Major Point Event with rounds of 69 and 71 and a total 4 over par score of 140.  Paige Van Dyk of Tama, IA captured the 10 – 12 age division title with 9 hole scores of 49 and 45.  Congratulations to all participants in the Iowa Junior Girls Championship.
