2008 Iowa Cup Matches

The 2008 Iowa Cup Matches will be held at Lake Panorama National Golf Course in Panora, Iowa on May 8-9. This annual competition is comprised of a Ryder Cup style format where the top Iowa Section PGA Professionals play against the top Iowa Golf Association Amateurs. Round one will begin at 9:30 A.M. on Thursday, May 8th with Four-Ball Matches. Round two will consist of Foursome matches beginning at 1:30 P.M. The final round will be comprised of singles matches beginning at 8:00 A.M. on Friday, May 9th.  The Iowa Section PGA won the Iowa Cup last year by a score of 27 to 13.

Special thanks to event sponsors; Jim Eaton of Academy Trophies and Awards, Jim Hauth of Ashworth, Gene Schneckloth of Page & Tuttle, and Lake Panorama National Golf Course. Below are the match-ups for the first two rounds of the event.  Public is welcome to attend free of charge.

Iowa PGA Pro Senior Scratch Results – April 28th, 2008

 The 2008 Iowa Section PGA Pro Senior Scratch which was held on April 28th, 2008 at Tournament Club of Iowa in Polk City, Iowa (par 71).  Golfers battled the cold and windy conditions in this first Iowa PGA Pro-Am of 2008.  Teams were comprised of one Iowa Section PGA Professional and one amateur fifty years of age or older. The team format was one best ball of two gross. There was also an individual PGA Open and Senior Division included in the event for the professionals. Special thanks to Jason Handeland, Head PGA Professional, for hosting this tournament.

Iowa PGA Junior Senior Draw Results – April 7th, 2008

The 2008 Iowa PGA tournament season got started with a a cold and windy day at Amana Colonies Golf Course in Amana, Iowa on April 7th.  The Junior Senior Draw attracted 30 Iowa Section PGA Professionals who competed in a team and individual stroke play event.  The team format was one best ball of two and the individual format was 18-hole stroke play.  Skip Holton and Sean McCarty captured the championship by shooting a team total of 69 (-3).  Special thanks to Gerry Hupfeld and his staff at Amana Colonies Golf Course for hosting this first event of the year.
